How it works

Three small things a year. One record that lasts their whole childhood.

You already have all of this. It's just scattered — in the doctor's portal, on a paper shot card, in a drawer somewhere. We help you put it in one place and keep it there.

A box arrives, once a year

Inside is this year's keepsake piece, a dated card to fill in together, and your login. The first year's box has a little sealed glass tube for a lock of hair from their first haircut.

Snap a photo of what the doctor already did

Checkups, heights and weights, the shot card, any test results. Take a picture or upload the file, and it's saved, dated, in your child's name — nothing new to collect, no appointments to make. If you need copies, federal privacy law gives you the right to a copy of your child's records from their doctors — usually within a month, sometimes for a small copying fee (here's the rule). Once they're teenagers, a few kinds of visits stay private by state law.

A children's doctor or nurse practitioner reads it and writes to you

Once a year, a pediatrician or pediatric nurse practitioner licensed in your state looks over everything you've added and writes you a letter in plain English: what's on file, what seems to be missing, and which routine checkups are coming up for a child their age. It's written so you can hand it straight to your own doctor.

The record and every keepsake are handed to your child as a young adult, to keep or to throw away. It was always theirs — we just looked after it until they were grown.

Our promises

These aren't just nice words on a website. Every one of them goes into the agreement you sign — so if we ever broke one, you could hold us to it.

It belongs to your child. We just look after it.

At eighteen it's theirs. And at any age, if you ask us to destroy everything we hold, we do it within thirty days and send you written confirmation. (The doctor or nurse who wrote your letter keeps their own copy for as long as state law requires — as any clinician must.)

Never sold along with the company.

Nothing about your child — not a keepsake, not a single piece of information — passes to any buyer or new owner unless you say yes, freshly, at the time. If we ever close our doors, the default is that it's all destroyed. And before the first box ships, we'll name an independent organization whose job is to make sure that promise holds even if we're not around to keep it.

A licensed children's doctor or nurse practitioner says the important things. The app never does.

The app shows your child's own line and, in grey, the standard growth-chart lines your pediatrician already uses (CDC) — that's all. Anything that sounds like an opinion comes from a licensed pediatrician or pediatric nurse practitioner, in a letter with their name on it.

We show our homework before we ask you to trust it.

If we ever measure anything ourselves, we publish how first — what we're testing, the evidence behind it, how precise the lab is, and an honest note wherever a children's "typical range" doesn't exist yet.

The strictest state's privacy rules, for every family.

Some states protect children's health information much better than others. We're building to the strictest of them and will apply those rules to every family, wherever you live — and we'll publish exactly which rules those are before reservations open. And no advertising trackers, ever, on any page that knows anything about your child.

It doesn't replace your pediatrician. The letter is written so you can hand it to them.

The things parents ask us first.

Is this a medical test?+

No. The Record keeps and organizes the results your pediatrician has already produced. Once a year a licensed children's doctor or pediatric nurse practitioner reads what you've added, compares it with the routine checkups a child that age should have had, and writes to you. The letter is not a diagnosis and doesn't replace your pediatrician — if the doctor thinks something deserves a proper look, the letter says so, in words written for your own doctor to read. Nothing in the app diagnoses, predicts or scores.

My pediatrician already tracks all this, and it's in the portal. What does $199 actually get me?+

Your pediatrician does the measuring, and should. What nobody keeps is the whole picture in one place, in your child's name, across every doctor, every move and all eighteen years — or a letter once a year telling you what's missing. The portal belongs to the practice; when you switch pediatricians or move towns, the record stays behind. The Record belongs to your child. And the keepsakes — the lock of hair, eighteen growth cards, the teeth — are the part no doctor's office will ever make for you.

Who's behind this?+

A small new company, led by a scientist and built with a pediatrician, a specialist in what children are exposed to, a privacy lawyer and a parent as its advisers. Every name and credential, and the doctors' group we work with, will be published on this page before anyone is asked for a reservation. Nobody should hand $25 to people they can't look up.

Does it renew automatically?+

Yes, once a year — and we email you thirty days before, with the price and a one-click way to stop it. Founding families keep their founding price for as long as they stay members, and we'll never raise anyone's price without a year's notice. Cancel whenever you like; the record and the keepsakes stay your child's, and you can ask us to destroy everything we hold, with written confirmation, at any age.

Who actually reads my child's record?+

A pediatrician or pediatric nurse practitioner licensed in your state, whose name is on the letter. They work through a separate, independent doctors' group — we'll name it, and list the states we cover from day one, before reservations open. A few states have stricter rules about this kind of service (New York is one), so those will come a little later, and we'll say so plainly. Our own staff don't read your child's results unless you ask us for help with something. The systems that hold them will be locked down to the standard the strictest state laws require, and there is never an advertising tracker on any page that knows anything about your child.

What happens to my $25?+

It holds one of the five hundred founding places and comes off your first payment. It's refunded in full, at any time, for any reason — one email is all it takes. And if we decide not to launch, every single reservation is refunded automatically, without you having to ask.

Is my child's information ever sold or shared?+

Never sold. It's shared with the clinician who reads it, with anyone you choose to hand the letter to, and with the companies that run our systems (payments, hosting) under contract — they may not use it for anything else. In rare cases the law requires a doctor to report certain results to a state health department; if that could ever apply, we tell you before it happens. If the company is ever bought or closes, nothing about your child moves anywhere without your fresh say-so — the default is that it's destroyed — and an independent organization will be named before the first box ships to make sure of it.

Because it doesn't exist yet, and we won't describe something before a licensed lab has confirmed, in writing, that it gives reliable results on samples parents collect at home from children. What ages is it for, and when does it ship?+

From birth to eighteen, with two places to start: the Birth-to-Five box, and the Tooth Fairy box from age five. Founding families get the first boxes. We'll write to everyone with a reservation the moment we have real dates — and not a day before.
